Dear young and old members of our parish,

What our ancestors created was not merely a club or a lodging facility — they built a foundation of security, unity, and belonging for our community in Mumbai.

Today, many of us may not fully realize its importance because times have changed. Yet, the need for community support and a dependable place in a city like Mumbai remains just as relevant as ever.

Some of you may not have personally known or experienced our Kudd in Mumbai, but your parents, grandparents, and ancestors were part of it and safeguarded it with great care. For them, it was truly a home away from home. While many of us may not know the complete history of our Kudd, there is no doubt that it played a vital role in the lives of our people for generations.

Speak to the elders in your village, and they will share their memories of this place — how it supported them, welcomed them, and became a source of comfort and strength for their families during their time in Mumbai.

If we allow this institution to disappear, future generations will one day ask why we failed to protect something that was handed down to us through the sacrifices and dedication of those before us.

Your membership, participation, ideas, and support can make a tremendous difference. NOTE: Even if you are not a member of the kudd, and even if your family has moved away from your village, if your ancestors were parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church, Galgibaga, you and your family will always be welcome to stay there. The doors were always meant to remain open to our people.
